Mizoram delegation visits Karnal anganwadi centres
A four-member delegation from Mizoram, along with members of the district ‘poshan’ (nutrition) team, visited anganwadi centres at Pundrak and Nissing in the district as part of the ‘Suposhit Gram Panchayat’ campaign.
District Programme Officer Seema Prasad said that the team weighed children at the centres and matched the data with records on the ‘poshan’ tracker, finding all data accurate and up-to-date. The team also interacted with pregnant and lactating women to take feedback on the daily ration provided through the centres.
The women shared that they regularly receive nutritious meals such as dalia, aloo puri, stuffed parathas, pulao, sweet rice, protein milk bars, milk, kheer, panjiri and millets (bajra), Seema said.
The team inquired whether anganwadi workers conducted regular home visits. The women confirmed that home visits are done monthly and the details were verified on the ‘poshan’ tracker, which matched correctly. The team also thoroughly inspected the kitchens and found the stock and storage of ration to be in order.
The delegation further inspected toilet facilities and sought information about the ‘poshan vatika’ (nutrition gardens). On this occasion, a tree plantation programme was carried out on the anganwadi campus under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A tree in mother’s name) campaign.
The inspection team included Anju, district project officer for the integrated nutrition campaign, Rajbala Mor from Nilokheri, Meena Ratan from Indri, and Santosh Girdhar from Nising.
