MC Phagwara hosts PM SVANidhi se Samriddhi camp for street vendors
Following the guidelines of the Government of Punjab, the Municipal Corporation Phagwara, led by Dr Akshita Gupta (IAS), Commissioner, organised a special outreach camp under the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) and SVANidhi Se Samriddhi schemes at the State Bank of India, Hargobind Nagar branch.
The initiative, in collaboration with SBI, aimed to empower local street vendors by facilitating easy access to working capital loans, interest subsidies and incentives for digital transactions. The camp also enabled the enrolment of eligible vendors under social welfare schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Jan Dhan Yojana, aligned with the objectives of the SVANidhi Se Samriddhi campaign.
The programme was conducted by Municipal Corporation staff, led by Municipal Assistant Commissioner Anish Bansal and City Mission Manager Gurwinder Singh, with active support from SBI Chief Manager Sandeep Singh and Loan Officer Vikas Paul, who provided detailed guidance on the application process and eligibility.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Commissioner Anish Bansal said, “This camp, held as per the directives of the Government of Punjab, reflects our commitment to integrating street vendors into the formal economy and ensuring their access to financial and social security benefits. We thank SBI for their support and encourage all eligible vendors to avail the benefits of these schemes.” The camp received an enthusiastic response from local vendors, who appreciated the doorstep facilitation of government welfare and banking services.
