‘Strangled, Beaten Like A Dog’: Kerala Woman, Baby Found Dead In Sharjah
A 33-year-old woman died by suicide after murdering her daughter in Sharjah’s Al Nahda due to alleged domestic abuse. The suicide of Vipanchika Mani came to light after a detailed six-page suicide note was found on her profile briefly before being removed. Family members believe her husband, Nithish Mohan, may have taken it down, although one relative confirmed the note has been preserved as evidence.
Suicide Note Alleges Domestic Abuse
The contents of the note painted a harrowing picture. Vipanchika reportedly accused her husband, his sister Neetu, and their father Mohanan of prolonged abuse, as per a report on Manorama. She described facing physical violence, psychological torment and sexual coercion beginning shortly after her marriage. According to her mother, Shailaja, Vipanchika endured this suffering in silence, never fully revealing the trauma she was going through.
The letter said that she was forced to eat spoiled food and was once strangled with a belt during pregnancy.
The Al Buhairah Police have launched an official investigation into the incident. In the letter, Vipanchika alleged that her father-in-law acted inappropriately toward her and that her husband failed to intervene, as per a report on The News Minute. She detailed instances of being beaten while seven months pregnant, denied food, and subjected to degrading treatment. The letter also described neglect towards their child, including a refusal to seek medical help during emergencies.
Shailaja, speaking through tears to local media, expressed anguish over her daughter's ordeal and added that she wished her daughter had confided in her earlier, reported Mathrubhumi.
Vipanchika had been employed as a filing clerk in Dubai for seven years. Her husband, a native of Nalchira in Kottayam, also worked in the UAE. Sources close to the family revealed that the couple had been living separately and had filed for divorce.
