Janhit: A Daughter’s Life Ends in Her Own Home, Radhika Yadav’s Murder Raises Alarming Questions

In a disturbing case from Gurugram, 25-year-old national-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their residence in Sector 57. The incident occurred around 10 AM on Thursday while Radhika was preparing breakfast in the kitchen. Her uncle rushed her to the hospital after hearing gunshots, but doctors declared her dead. Deepak reportedly fired five shots using his licensed pistol—four of which hit Radhika. Police initially claimed that Deepak was angry over a music video featuring Radhika and a male co-actor, which he believed tarnished the family's reputation. Social media activity, including Radhika’s desire to become an influencer, allegedly triggered the crime. Some reports also suggest Deepak had previously deleted her accounts and asked her to remove videos, which led to tension. However, Deepak’s statements have been inconsistent. At first, he blamed a tennis academy dispute, then shifted his version to social media objections. Sources say the motive is unclear, and police suspect more people may be involved, including potential family cover-ups. Notably, Radhika’s mother was home during the murder but claimed she doesn’t know why her husband killed their daughter. Radhika had a ranking of 113 globally and ranked 35 in India. She had opened a tennis academy in Gurugram and was financially supported by her father. The tennis community is in shock, with many questioning how a supportive father could commit such an act. Investigators have ruled out honor killing for now but continue to explore all angles.
