New Delhi: After his touching celebration over the death of an Liverpool star Diogo Jota during the third Test at Lord, Mohammed Siraj told the BCCI why he felt the urge to do so in a video.
“In the last match when we were arriving, I got to know that Diogo Jota passed away in a car accident. I’m a fan of Portugal because Cristiano Ronaldo plays for that team, I felt very emotional after hearing the news,” said Siraj from the dressing room.
“Life is very unpredictable. We fight so hard for things, but we do not even know what tomorrow holds. There is no guarantee in life. It was very shocking,” he added.
“Today, I got wickets, so I wanted to make that gesture for him. It was my way of showing respect.” The words of Siraj were an indication of the overwhelming impression the news created on him and showed the emotional attachment sports personalities in one field have toward other personalities in other fields.
