Haryana CM Nayab Saini Demands Apology From Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Over Remarks On PM Modi’s Foreign Visits

Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Saini has asked his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann to seek an apology from the nation for his remarks on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign visits.

Terming Mann’s comments as ``inappropriate’’, Saini also said on X Friday night, that the same was an insult to democratic values of constitutional positions.

It may be recalled that despite a rebuke by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for his remarks Modi’s foreign visit a day ago, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-ruled Punjab CM Mann repeated the same on the floor of the state assembly on the second day of an ongoing session, here on Friday.

Mann said: ``I again say that the PM has been going to - I don't know their names - Magnesia, Galvesia, Tarvesi countries whose population is less than 10,000 and he gets their highest civilian honour. The number of people who reside in their countries are equal to the number of people who gather when a JCB is deployed for work in India. There are 140 crore people in India and he should think of their welfare’’.

MEA, without naming Mann, had called the same as ``regrettable and irresponsible'' and that ``they do not behove the state authority and the government distances itself from these statements that undermine India’s ties with other friendly countries.

Later on Friday evening, Mann had gone on to say that wherever Modi goes, Adani’s business starts there and this means that he takes him there. Asking did he not have the right to ask Modi, Mann held that he would ask him this in future too.

Saini held that India is progressing shoulder to shoulder with developed countries of the world under Modi’s efficient leadership and strong global policy.

Mann has also faced rap from several BJP leaders of Punjab.

Condemning Mann’s remarks, Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar also said on X that when a person’s shadow grows larger than his standing, it means that the sun is about set and when a person’s tongue outgrows his stature, it means that his downfall is near. Jakhar also asked Mann to apologise for his inappropriate language.
