The police have arrested an alleged drug peddler and seized a substantial quantity of narcotics from his possession. The accused has been remanded to six days of police custody.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Crime) Amit Dahiya, the arrest was made by the Anti-Narcotics Cell led by Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar following a tip-off that a man was planning to supply drugs near IT Park road between IT-Park in Sector 24 and Sector 28. Acting swiftly, the police team intercepted a Skoda car and apprehended the suspect on the spot.
The accused has been identified as 43-year-old Harshvardhan Naharwal, a resident of Sector 24, Chandimandir.
Upon search, the police team recovered 23 gm MDMA (Methylenedioxy-Methamphetamine) and 150 gm charas.
A case has been registered under sections 20(B)(II)(B) and 22(C) of the NDPS Act at Chandimandir police station.
The DCP said the accused was produced before a local court and has been sent to six days of police remand.
During this period, investigators aim to uncover the source of the drugs, identify the supply chain, and expose the broader network. It has also emerged that the accused has a previous drug trafficking case registered in Himachal Pradesh.
The police officials, meanwhile, reiterated their zero-tolerance stance against the narcotics trade, pledging to dismantle entire trafficking networks in support of the government’s “Drug-Free Haryana" initiative.
