Yamunanagar MC launches Rs 47 lakh development drive in Wards 8, 22

The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has launched a series of development projects in Wards 8 and 22, with a total outlay of Rs 47.60 lakh.

In Ward 8, Rs 18.40 lakh will be spent on the construction of streets and drains in Kamala Nagar and Yogesh Nagar. Similarly, in Ward 22, a new street will be constructed in Sarojini Colony at a cost of Rs 29.20 lakh.

Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora and Mayor Suman Bahamani laid the foundation stone for these works, ceremonially inaugurating the projects by breaking coconuts. They were joined by Municipal Councillor Vibhor Pahuja in Ward 8 and Councillor Ruchi Sharma in Ward 22.

MLA Arora emphasised that ensuring all colonies receive proper infrastructure is a key priority for the government. “We are working in close coordination with the MC and local administration to provide every possible facility to the people of Yamunanagar,” he said. “The positive impact of the triple-engine government is clearly visible in Yamunanagar, where the MC is leading in development works.”

Mayor Suman Bahamani outlined the specific projects: streets and drains will be constructed from Sanjay’s house to Gurvinder’s house in Kamala Nagar and from Kamboj’s house to Nanda’s house in Yogesh Nagar. A new road will also be laid in Sarojini Colony of Ward 22.

“Our aim is not just to complete construction but to ensure delivery of basic civic amenities in every ward,” the Mayor said. “These projects will help resolve drainage issues and improve the overall quality of life.”

She issued strict instructions to the contractors and agencies concerned to use high-quality materials and maintain work standards. “There will be zero tolerance for compromise on quality,” she added. “I’ve asked officials to closely monitor the progress and ensure timely completion. Providing drinking water, paved streets, sewer lines, drainage and electricity remains our top priority.”
