BJP submits memo to SDM over land pooling policy
A BJP delegation today submitted a memorandum to SDM-1 under the leadership of district BJP president Sushil Sharma against the Punjab government’s land pooling scheme.
Former MLA Jagbir Brar, Punjab BJP executive member Amit Taneja, district BJP general secretary Ashok Sarin Hickey, Rajesh Kapoor, Amarjit Goldi, councillor Kanwar Sartaj and Alam Makkar were specially present on the occasion. District BJP president Sushil Sharma said the land pooling policy of the AAP government of Punjab was a scheme being implemented to grab thousands of acres of agricultural land from the farmers of Jalandhar in Punjab.
He said the BJP will protect the rights of farmers and not allow any financial losses to them. Sharma said the key planner of the scheme is former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal. At his behest, the Punjab government is bent on ruining farmers by handing over land to the real estate mafia. He claimed that the government is issuing notifications in the name of creating imaginary colonies, whose real purpose is to grab the land of farmers. He said the BJP strongly opposes the policy.
Sharma added that the BJP will oppose the scheme in a democratic manner and will also move court if necessary and won’t allow the land of the farmers of Punjab to be forcibly occupied in any condition.
BJP leader Amit Taneja targeted the governance model of Arvind Kejriwal. “The Kejriwal model is a symbol of corruption, anarchy and looting of public tax money. No new hospitals were built, no colleges and no industries were established in Delhi during the 10-year rule. Now, by applying the same model in Punjab, the Bhagwant Maan government is breaking the state’s back,” he said.
“Earlier, settlements were built, but no one settled. The same will happen to the new policy. We demand that the government consult the farmers before implementing any scheme,” he added.
