Weather warning: Himachal to experience heavy rainfall on July 14
Heavy rainfall is set to continue across the state on July 14 as the state’s Meteorological Department has issued an orange weather warning for Kangra and Sirmour districts, resulting in very heavy to heavy rain in isolated areas of these districts.
Also, a yellow weather warning has been issued for Shimla, Mandi and Solan districts, resulting in a few spells of heavy rain in isolated areas of these districts. Yellow warning has also been issued for several districts of the state for July 15 to 17.
According to the department, light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue at many places till July 19 with one or two spells of very heavy to heavy rain at isolated places from July 15 to 17. While maximum temperatures are very likely to fall by 3°C to 4°C in the state, minimum temperatures will fall by 2°C to 3°C in three to four days.
Meanwhile, monsoon was weak over the state during the last 24 hours as only light to moderate rain was observed at many places. Minimum temperatures were between the range of 11°C and 27°C while maximum temperatures were between the range of 19°C and 35°C during the past 24 hours.
Shimla recorded 23.4°C maximum temperature while Dharamsala recorded 29°C. Similarly, maximum temperatures in Manali, Solan and Mandi were 24.2°C, 28°C and 32.2°C, respectively. Kangra recorded 30.8°C, Sundernagar 30.9°C, Bhuntar 29.7°C, Una 34°C, Kalpa 24.8°C, Nahan 29.5°C, Bilaspur 34.7°C, Hamirpur 31.6°C, Chamba 25.5°C, Kufri 21.2°C, Narkanda 21°C and Kasauli 21.6°C.
With 34.5°C maximum temperature, Dhaulakuan in Sirmour district was the hottest place in the state while Keylong, headquarters of tribal district Lahaul and Spiti, recorded 11°C minimum temperature and was the coldest place in the state.
