Viral video: Assam man bathes in 40 litres of milk after divorce, here’s why

Guwahati: A man from Assam’s Nalbari district has gone viral after celebrating his divorce in a rather unconventional way — by bathing in four buckets of milk.
The man, identified as Manik Ali from Baraliarpar near Mukalmua in lower Assam, was seen in a video pouring nearly 40 litres of milk over himself at a tube well near his home. The moment was captured by a neighbor and has since gained widespread attention on social media.

“I am free from today,” Ali is heard saying in the video. “We got legally separated in court. My advocate informed me, so I decided to celebrate with a milk bath.”
Ali alleged that his wife had eloped twice with another man. After repeated attempts at reconciliation, he said he finally chose to file for divorce. The court recently granted the separation, and Ali followed through on his self-declared vow to mark the occasion in a dramatic fashion.
Locals reportedly gathered to witness the unusual celebration.
“I tried to keep her with me, but she didn’t change. She kept eloping, and I couldn’t tolerate it anymore,” he said.
Ali noted that their five-year-old daughter would remain with her mother. Neighbors described him as someone who had struggled for years to maintain peace at home. The couple had been married for seven years after dating for one year, and their daughter was born two years into the marriage.
“I promised myself I would bathe in milk once the divorce came through — and I did,” Ali added.
