FffDelhi University: The much-awaited admission process for the undergraduate courses of Delhi University has begun. Thousands of students are eagerly waiting for the completion of the process and getting admission to their desired DU college. Delhi University is not only one of the most prestigious universities in the country but is also included in the top list of foreign rankings. It is also often termed as the ‘factory of IAS officers’ as several prominent civil servants are its alumni. For instance – IAS officer Tina Dabi is an alumna of DU. Notably, Miranda House, St. Stephen’s, Lady Shri Ram College, and Kirori Mal College of DU are known for their academic excellence as well as preparation for the UPSC examination.

According to several media reports, from the year 1975 to 2014, nearly 4,000 DU alumni cracked one of the toughest exams in India – UPSC. Courses like political science, history and economics are considered highly scoring for UPSC. Several DU colleges are famous for their courses and style of teaching. Most of the students from the arts and commerce streams study at DU and score impressive marks.

Who Are the UPSC Top Rankers from Delhi University?

It is worth mentioning that most of the DU colleges have produced top UPSC rankers. Prominent IAS officers such as Tina Dabi, Shruti Sharma and Durga Shakti Nagpal are among the DU alumni. Colleges like Miranda House and LSR specialise in social sciences, while SRCC ranks No. 1 in economics and commerce.

Miranda House – It is considered the top college for women. The college is also known for undergraduate courses in history, political science, sociology, and sciences (like zoology, chemistry).

Smriti Mishra (IAS, AIR 4, 2022), who completed her graduation degree in BSc, took Zoology as her optional subject.

St. Stephen’s College – This college is famous for its teachers and has a strong hold in courses like History, Economics and Philosophy.

Shruti Sharma (IAS, AIR 1, 2021) is an alumnus of this college. She graduated in History and was the UPSC topper.

Lady Shri Ram College (LSR)—Students take admission in this college for courses like political science, sociology, and journalism.

Prominent IAS officer Tina Dabi (IAS, AIR 1, 2015) earned a degree in political science from this college.

Following her sister’s footsteps, Ria Dabi (IAS, AIR 15, 2020) also graduated from here in political science.

Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) For undergraduate courses in Economics and Commerce.

IAS officer Ananya Singh (IAS, AIR 51, 2019) completed her degree in Economics from this college.

Kirori Mal College– Students from Commerce, History and Political Science background take admission here.

IAS officer Garima Lohia (IAS, AIR 2, 2022) earned her commerce degree from this college. She got successful in cracking UPSC exam in her second attempt.

Hindu College– This college is famous among students for courses like History, Political Science and English.

Many IAS and IPS officers have obtained degrees from this prestigious college.
