New Delhi: Air India on Monday issued an advisory amid incessant rainfall in the national capital. Earlier today, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its statement informed that light rainfall is very likely to occur at Delhi (Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Delhi Cantt, Palam, IGI Airport, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Ayanagar), NCR (Gurugram, Manesar) Hansi, Meham, Tosham.

What did the advisory say?

“Rain and thunderstorms may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today. Please check your flight status before heading to the airport and allow extra time for your journey,” Air India said in its statement. Air India also urged passengers to check their respective flight status and provided a link for the same.

Passengers can check the flight status by visiting the official website of Air India before heading to the airport. A few additional locations in Delhi-NCR that are likely receive showers include Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Delhi Cantt, Palam, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Ayanagar, Gurugram, Manesar, Lajpat Nagar, Malviyanagar, Kalkaji, Tughlakabad, IGNOU, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad and Ballabhgarh.

The weather department mentioned in an X post, “Light rainfall is very likely to occur at Delhi (Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Delhi Cantt, Palam, IGI Airport, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Ayanagar), NCR (Gurugram, Manesar) Hansi, Meham, Tosham,during next 2 hrs.”

Indigo Releases Advisory

Indigo airline also issue a similar advisory the day before, warning against heavy showers in the capital. An official tweet stated “heavy rain may slow down road movement in some areas. If you are travelling to the airport, we suggest starting a little earlier than usual.” Indigo also advised passengers to keep an eye on traffic updates as well as the flight status before heading out.

The heavy showers in the NCR have brought down temperatures and provided relief from persistent humidity of the past few days. Commuters welcomed the cool breezes, drop in temperature and a pleasant change in weather
