PM Distributes Over 51,000 New Job Letters during Rozgar Mela

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully held Rozgar Melas at three prominent locations Guwahati, Dimapur and Siliguri today on 12th July 2025, as part of the Government of India’s flagship nationwide employment initiative. These events, aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s commitment to job creation, marked a significant step toward empowering the youth by distributing appointment letters to newly recruited candidates selected for various Central Government departments.

In a landmark step towards youth empowerment and large-scale job creation, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to newly appointed candidates across the country via video conferencing at 11:00 AM and addressed them on the occasion. He highlighted that the Central Government’s employment initiative has already provided permanent jobs to lakhs of youth, who are now actively contributing to India’s development across sectors such as health, defence, energy and infrastructure, from rural areas to urban centres. Congratulating the new recruits, the Prime Minister encouraged them to dedicate themselves to public service, emphasizing that regardless of the role, the core objective is to serve the nation and its citizens. Stressing India’s unique strengths of democracy and demography, he described the youth as the country’s greatest asset, whose energy and voice are being recognized globally. He further noted that as employment trends evolve in the 21st century, India is poised to become a global powerhouse, with its youth leading the charge in innovation, self-reliance and growth across key sectors.

This 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela was simultaneously conducted at 47 locations across India, including venues within the NFR zone. A total of 625 appointment letters over NFR were handed over to candidates selected for various Government departments, underscoring the Government’s commitment to employment generation, streamlined recruitment and meaningful career opportunities for the youth.

At Guwahati, the Rozgar Mela was held at Rang Bhawan, N.F. Railway Headquarters, Maligaon, in the august presence of Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Smt. Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, in the presence of Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR, along with other senior officials. The dignitaries handed over appointment letters to the newly appointed candidates and addressed the gathering, congratulating them and encouraging their active participation in the nation’s progress.

In Dimapur, the Rozgar Mela was organized at Town Hall, where Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, graced the event along with Yanthungo Patton, Deputy Chief Minister and other dignitaries for distribution of appointment letters.

The Siliguri event was held at the VIP Officers’ Rest House, Kashmir Colony, New Jalpaiguri, in the presence of Ajay Tamta, Hon’ble Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, who interacted with the newly appointed candidates and encouraged them on their new journey in public service. These appointments span a range of Central Government Ministries and Departments including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Posts, Department of Financial Services, and the Ministry of Labour & Employment.
