Electric Car: Now the electric car will run more than 3000Km on full charge, 100% charge in 5 minutes

Chinese tech company Huawei has made a great innovation regarding the EV segment. Actually, the company has claimed to have developed a new solid-state electric vehicle battery. It will give a range of more than 3000Km on a single charge. Apart from this, it can be fully charged in just 5 minutes.

Electric Car: The demand for electric four-wheelers is increasing rapidly all over the world. Especially, in the Indian market, growth has been seen in it for the last few months. However, even today many people are afraid to adopt EV due to long battery range and charging infrastructure. In such a situation, now Chinese tech company Huawei has made a great innovation regarding this segment. Actually, the company has claimed to develop a new solid-state electric vehicle battery. It will give a range of more than 3000Km on a single charge. Apart from this, it can be fully charged in just 5 minutes.

The battery will be fully charged in 5 minutes

The patent filed by the company shows that this electric vehicle battery has nitrogen-doped sulfide electrolyte, which increases the energy density to 400-500 Wh/kg, which is two to three times more than existing lithium-ion batteries. Ultra-fast charging ensures 0-100% charge in just 5 minutes. Currently, the biggest hurdle in the commercialization of solid-state batteries is the stabilization of the lithium interface and reducing the risk of harmful side effects. The patent shows that both these challenges can be addressed by nitrogen doping of sulfide electrolytes.

1kWh costs around ₹1.20 lakh

Here, industry experts say that theoretically this may sound impressive, but it is impossible to happen in the real world with mass-produced prototypes. According to experts, these claims are based on laboratory results. There are many challenges in implementing this model in the real world and in mass production due to high production costs. Let us tell you that sulfide electrolytes are quite expensive, costing around $ 1,400 per kWh (about Rs 1.20 lakh).

Driving range of more than 3000KM

It is also worth noting that the driving range of 3000+ KM on a single charge provided by Huawei is based on CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle). In contrast, if we consider the EPA cycle, it will be reduced to 2000+ KM. This is still much more than any electric vehicle available on sale in any part of the world. Huawei is not currently in the business of making power batteries, but the heavy investments made by the company in battery research and materials in recent times show that it intends to become a mainstream company in the future.

The claim will change the EV industry

Many major global battery manufacturing companies such as Toyota, Samsung SDI and CATL aim to start commercializing solid-state batteries by 2027 to 2030. However, Huawei’s recent claim has surprised everyone. If it turns out to be true, it can completely transform the electric vehicle (EV) industry. It can completely eliminate range anxiety and charging delays. However, inadequate infrastructure to support ultra-fast charging rates is also a major challenge.
