Four incidents of roof collapse in Abohar district

Several areas in Abohar town were waterlogged and roofs of four buildings collapsed following heavy rainfall on Monday morning. Electricity supply was shut as a precautionary measure for about 45 minutes.

Radha Rani of Street No. 10 in the Nai Abadi area was injured after the roof of her house collapsed. She was pulled out of the debris by neighbours and admitted to a hospital. Another similar incident was reported in the same area, but there was no casualty. The roof of a building material shop collapsed in Indira City area, burying two tractors and building material under debris. In the fourth such incident, a family had a narrow escape in the Anand Nagari area.

There were also reports of overturning of some vehicles on potholed roads. Local residents, farmers and milk vendors also faced hardship due to inundated roads.

79 mm rainfall floods Bathinda

A rainfall of 79 mm on Monday exposed the tall claims of the Bathinda Municipal

Corporation as city roads were left waterlogged and low-lying areas were submerged under several feet of water.

The worst affected areas in the district included Power House road, administrative complex area, Amrik Singh road, Paras Ram Nagar, Sirki Bazaar, Bhatti road and the Mall Road.
