Did Ranveer Singh And Sanjay Leela Bhansali Fall Out Over Love & War? Here's What We Know

Bollywood’s once-celebrated actor-director duo, Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, appears to be going through a rough patch, if recent reports are to be believed. The two, who previously delivered blockbusters like 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela', 'Bajirao Mastani', and 'Padmaavat', are reportedly no longer on friendly terms following a casting decision that didn’t sit well with the actor.

What led to Ranveer and Bhansali fall out?

Bhansali’s next magnum opus, Love & War, features Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in a love triangle. The project, which has already generated immense buzz ahead of its March 2026 release, was initially speculated to reunite the director with Ranveer Singh. However, according to senior journalist Subhash K Jha, Ranveer was offered the second lead — a role he chose to decline. That part eventually went to Vicky Kaushal.

The decision reportedly didn’t go down well with the Dhurandhar actor, who had earlier been expected to headline Bhansali’s now-stalled 'Baiju Bawra' opposite Alia Bhatt. With 'Love & War' taking priority, and Ranveer no longer at the center of Bhansali’s cinematic world, their professional equation seems to have cooled significantly.

Bhansali was not invited for Ranveer's birthday celebration

Further fueling speculation of a fallout was Bhansali’s noticeable absence from Ranveer’s 40th birthday celebration on July 6. The bash was described as an intimate affair with only close friends in attendance.

As per the report, “On July 6, Ranveer Singh celebrated his 40th birthday with a very private get-together where only close friends were welcome. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who gave Ranveer the superstar status with Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, was not one of the invitees. The director and actor are no more close friends."

While neither camp has issued an official statement confirming or denying the alleged rift, industry insiders suggest that the once rock-solid creative bond between the two may have run its course.

Ranveer turns the page with Dhurandhar

As Bhansali moves forward with 'Love & War', Ranveer Singh is gearing up for his next big-screen outing — 'Dhurandhar', a high-octane action drama helmed by Uri: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film promises an intense narrative centered on covert operatives.

The first look of the film was unveiled on Ranveer’s birthday, showcasing the actor in a rugged avatar. The 2-minute-40-second teaser delivered a raw, gritty visual treat with Ranveer channeling his inner beast.

Joining him in the film are Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal — rounding out a powerful ensemble. Dhurandhar is slated to release on December 5, 2025.

Though the reports about a fallout between Bhansali and Ranveer continue to swirl, there has been no official word from either party.
