There’s no shortcut to success and Ajay Kumar Soni understood this at a young age. That’s why he worked hard in school, scored excellent marks in both 10th and 12th, and later completed BTech and MTech from top colleges. Today, he is working as a software engineer at a global company.

Ajay comes from Noida in Uttar Pradesh and thought he did really well in his board exams, he missed out on getting into IIT through JEE. His dream of doing BTech from an IIT didn’t come true at that time. But he didn’t give up. Instead, he completed his BTech from Rajasthan Technical University, and later gave it another try and finally got admission to an IIT for MTech through his dedication and hard work.

Ajay Kumar Soni’s schooling

Ajay studied in Rana Pratap Senior Secondary School in Ghaziabad from 2011 to 2013, where he scored 93 per cent in Class 10. For Class 12, he took admission in Ascent International School, Greater Noida, and completed his studies in 2015. He scored 81.40 per cent in his CBSE Class 12 board exams.

From missed IIT dreams to a Microsoft job

Ajay Kumar Soni always loved studying and was known as a bright student. But when he didn’t get a high enough rank in the JEE exam, he didn’t waste any time. Instead, he joined Rajasthan Technical University and studied Computer Science there from 2015 to 2019. He completed his BTech with a good 8.4 CGPA out of 10. Later, he worked hard and got admission into IIT Delhi for his MTech in Computer Science, which he completed from 2020 to 2022, scoring 76.70 per cent.

Job at Microsoft

While studying, Ajay worked with a community called GATEoverflow as a content editor, where he helped students preparing for the GATE exam. He also worked as a teaching assistant at IIT Delhi for some time.

After that, he joined Qualcomm in Hyderabad as a software engineer and worked there for two years. In 2024, he got a job offer from Microsoft, and now he is working at Microsoft’s Hyderabad office as a software engineer.  He is currently contributing to the Windows Surface PLE team at Microsoft.

Ajay has demonstrated a history of working on various software products. He is skilled in Linux kernel, device drivers, and IPC. Apart from this, he has done a certificate course in Generative AI. Along with this, he has worked on many great projects.

Looking at Ajay’s strong academic background and work experience, it is likely that his salary is between Rs. 30 to Rs. 70 lakh per year.
