Live Wires Kill 11 Animals In MP's Satna Amid Heavy Rain; Villagers Blame Power Department
Satna (Madhya Pradesh): Eight cattle and three buffaloes died after coming in contact with live electric wires amid heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the incidents occurred in two separate locations. In Bhainswar village under Kothi police station limits, eight cattle were electrocuted.
In another incident, three buffaloes died in Jhingodar village under Jaso police station area after touching a live wire, reportedly due to waterlogging and exposed electric lines during the ongoing monsoon.
Locals have blamed the electricity department for carelessness, saying officials failed to secure hanging or broken wires, even after repeated complaints.
Villagers have demanded strict action and compensation for the livestock loss.
Despite multiple complaints, no actions were taken
Villagers alleged, that despite informing officials about a open wire multiple times, no proper action was taken. As a result, eight cattle roaming in the village got electrocuted. Residents also claimed that even after the incident, the department failed to carry out repair work
Farmer suffers a loss of ₹2.5 to 3 lakh; alleges electricity department of negligence
In a similar incident in Jhingodar, farmer Indrapal lost 3 of his buffaloes after they came into contact with an electrified wire. The farmer said he has suffered a loss estimated between ₹2.5 to 3 lakh.
The farmer alleged that the electricity company does not take the villager's complaint seriously, due to which such accidents keeps on happening.
