Mumbai Crime: 18-Year-Old Biker Attacks BEST Bus Driver With Helmet After Minor Collision In Ghatkopar; Case Registered
Mumbai: An 18-year-old motorcyclist allegedly assaulted a BEST bus driver with his helmet after his two-wheeler was grazed by the bus. The shocking incident occurred on July 13, under the Ghatkopar Metro Bridge on Station Road, Ghatkopar West.
The Ghatkopar Police have registered a case against Prajakt Santosh Kharat, following a complaint by the bus driver, Sunil Bhausaheb Dhanapune,48.
According to the police, Dhanapune, who is attached to the Ghatkopar BEST Depot, was on duty with bus conductor Mali on July 13, operating BEST bus route number 470/32. At around 5:45 PM, they departed from Ghatkopar Depot with passengers, heading towards Goregaon.
Around 6:05 PM, as the bus navigated through the crowded Station Road under the Metro Bridge, it made slight contact with a motorcycle (MH-03 CC 7844) carrying two individuals. The motorcyclist, identified as Kharat, then blocked the bus with his motorcycle. He allegedly began verbally abusing driver Dhanapune and proceeded to assault him with his helmet, striking him near his ear and on his head.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Ghatkopar Police promptly arrived at the scene and detained Prajakt Kharat and his companion, Aadesh Baban Baile, 43.
Dhanapune was immediately taken to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment. After receiving medical attention, police recorded his complaint and registered a case against Kharat under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
