‘Superman’ Box Office Collection Day 5: James Gunn’s Superhero Flick Inches Past ₹30 Crore In India
‘Superman’ Box Office Collection Day 5: James Gunn’s much-anticipated DC reboot, 'Superman', is showing signs of resilience at the Indian box office after a brief stumble. Starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, the film is steadily gaining ground with audiences, particularly in metro cities.
After experiencing a noticeable drop in collections on its first Monday, the film managed to recover slightly on Tuesday. As per early estimates reported by Sacnilk, 'Superman' earned around ₹2.75 crore across all languages on Tuesday, up from its ₹2.3 crore Monday haul. With this, the film’s total Indian net collection now stands at approximately ₹31.05 crore.
While 'Superman' missed the projected ₹40 crore opening weekend mark in India, it has still delivered a solid performance considering the global competition. Reports had suggested it would surpass titles like 'Mission: Impossible' and 'Jurassic World Rebirth' to become the year’s biggest Hollywood release in India, a feat it’s yet to accomplish but still remains in the race for.
'Superman' Global Collection
Internationally, Gunn’s 'Superman' reboot opened to a strong response. The film, which reportedly cost $225 million to produce, pulled in an estimated $95 million from overseas markets, bringing its global opening weekend tally to $217 million. It currently stands as the third-largest domestic opener of the year, following 'Minecraft' and 'Jurassic World Rebirth'.
A standout highlight has been the film’s IMAX performance with $30.4 million in global earnings from IMAX screens alone, including $19.1 million in North America and $11.3 million. Internationally, 'Superman' has outpaced even Brad Pitt’s Formula One drama, which previously held strong with $27.7 million from the format.
Interestingly, the English-language version of 'Superman' is said to be driving a large share of Indian revenue, contributing around ₹19.97 crore, as metropolitan audiences lead the charge for DC’s fresh cinematic chapter.
Helmed by James Gunn, the film also stars Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion and Anthony Carrigan.
