Breaking News: Tesla Launches First Showroom In Mumbai, Introduces Model Y Electric SUV Starting At ₹60 Lakh

Tesla has officially entered the Indian market with its first showroom at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. The company has launched its popular compact electric SUV, the Model Y, priced from ₹60 lakh. This highly anticipated launch marks a significant milestone in India’s electric vehicle revolution. The Model Y boasts advanced features including a panoramic sunroof, automatic emergency braking, and an optional full self-driving (autopilot) system, though the driverless mode is yet to be activated in India. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds and offers a certified range of approximately 500 km on a single charge. Tesla is also setting up logistics, delivery, and service infrastructure alongside the showroom to ensure a seamless customer experience. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the showroom, underscoring the government’s support for EV adoption. Prospective buyers in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram can now book the Model Y online with deliveries expected by October. Tesla’s entry promises stiff competition for existing EV players in India and is a major step towards sustainable mobility.
