EU fails to approve new Russia sanctions

The EU failed to approve its 18th Russia sanctions package on Tuesday, according to EU foreign chief Kaja Kallas. Slovakia is currently blocking the package, pending resolution of its concerns regarding a separate EU proposal to phase out Russian gas imports by January 1, 2028. The proposed sanctions include banning transactions with Russia's Nord Stream gas pipelines.
