Air India’s Pune–Singapore Flight Suspension Extended Till September 30

Air India has extended the suspension of its direct Pune–Singapore flight (AI2111/2110) till September 30. The airline had earlier suspended its Pune–Singapore flight till July 15. This comes amid its ongoing ‘Safety Pause’ initiated following the tragic crash of flight AI171 in Ahmedabad on June 12.

“As the schedule reductions taken as part of the ‘Safety Pause’ had been implemented till July 31, 2025, and the restoration to full operation is being phased, some services initially planned to operate between August 1 and September 30, 2025, will be removed from the schedule," the airline said in a statement.

“While partial restoration of the airline’s global schedule will begin in August, a full recovery is targeted for October 1, 2025, as per the company’s current operational roadmap,” it added.

The Pune–Singapore flight was launched in December 2022 by Vistara and later integrated into Air India’s network. It is operated five times a week using an Airbus A321 aircraft. The flight departs from Pune at 2:10 am IST and reaches Singapore by 10:30 am GMT.

Meanwhile, netizens are unhappy with this decision.

Sudhir Mehta, Chairman, Pinnacle Industries Limited, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Pune again loses 1/3 of its direct international flight connectivity… In a rapidly developing India, our city suffers uniformly in constraints on flights, trains and city bus connectivity."

The earlier suspension had triggered negative comments against Air India. "It's better to go to Mumbai and fly Singapore Airlines rather than fly on a below-average and risky airline. The government has given a very long rope to @airindia to correct things, but just because it is owned by the Tatas, we Indians are foolishly and blindly trusting this absolutely horrible airline," a user said.

"Better to stop the flight temporarily rather than compromise on safety, which by now is evident from the various reports and incidents following the Ahmedabad crash," commented another user.
