42-Year-Old Snake Rescuer Dies After Cobra Bites Him In MP's Guna; Carried Caught Snake Around Neck
Guna (Madhya Pradesh): A shocking incident was reported in Raghogarh area of Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, where a snake rescuer died after being bitten by a Cobra he had caught.
42-year-old Deepak Mahawar, who had been rescuing snakes for years had saved hundreds of snakes from residential areas and released them safely into forests.
On Monday afternoon, Deepak was called to Barbatpura village to rescue a snake. He successfully caught it but soon after received a call from his son’s school informing him that his 13-year-old son had been dismissed early. In hurry, Deepak placed the snake around his neck and rode his bike to the school to pick up his child. On way back home, the snake suddenly bit him on the hand.
Despite the bite, Deepak managed to call a friend and rushed to Raghogarh hospital. He was later referred to Guna district hospital where treatment showed signs of improvement and he was discharged the same evening. Around midnight, his condition got severe. He was taken again to the district hospital but he passed away before treatment could begin.
His body was handed over to the family after post-mortem on Tuesday morning. Deepak’s death has grieved the whole village. Locals remember him as a brave who dedicated his life to saving snakes and spreading awareness.
