Pune Crime: Retired IAF Wing Commander’s House Robbed In Wanawadi; Valuables Worth ₹59.24 Lakh Stolen
Two thieves entered a retired Indian Air Force Wing Commander's house in Pune on Tuesday morning and stole diamond-studded jewellery, 83 tolas of gold, ₹7.5 lakh in cash and two mobile phones, all worth ₹59.24 lakh. The incident took place between 2:30am and 3:15am in Wanawadi village.
The victim, Verinderkumar Ratanlal Jaundiyal (78), filed a complaint at Wanawadi Police Station regarding the matter.
According to the police, complainant Jaundiyal was retired as a Wing Commander from the Indian Air Force in 1992. Since then, he has been living in his Kaushalya Bungalow in Wanawadi village. He is accompanied by his wife, son and daughter-in-law. Jaundiyal is currently in the real estate business.
In the bungalow, Jaundiyal and his wife have their bedroom on the ground floor, while his son lives on the first floor.
On Monday night, after dinner at 11pm, they went to bed as usual. Around 2:30am, they were woken up by a noise. Two masked individuals entered their house, holding screwdrivers in their hands. They threatened them and demanded the cupboard key, warning them to stay silent if they wanted to stay alive.
Fearing for their lives, the victim handed over the key. The thieves took out the jewellery and cash from the cupboard. They also snatched the mobile phones of Jaundiyal and his wife and threatened to kill them if they left the room.
Later, when Jaundiyal and his wife came to the hall, they found that the thieves had broken the grill door of the hall and entered their room. Following the incident, they informed their son.
Satyajeet Admane, Senior Police Inspector of Wanawadi Police Station, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "Jaundiyal called the police control room and informed them about the incident. The thieves have been recorded on CCTV cameras installed at the bungalow. Two thieves who entered the bungalow threatened the husband and wife and robbed them of gold, diamond jewellery, and cash worth ₹59.24 lakh are on the run. The crime branch and local police teams are searching for the accused. They will be arrested soon."
