Prithviraj Sukumaran's 'Khalifa', directed by 'Pulimurugan' fame Vysakh, begins production

Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran has announced the production commencement of his new film, Khalifa, which was announced a while back. The film reunites the actor with director Vysakh, with whom he worked in Pokkiri Raja. Vysakh is also known for directing Pulimurugan, starring Mohanlal.
On Wednesday, Prithviraj took to his official Instagram handle to share the development, alongside a picture of a clapboard with the film's title and a caption mentioning his character name, Aamir Ali.
"Aamir Ali will see you soon! #KHALIFA @directorvysakh @jiinuinnovation @suraj_k16 @jomontjohn @jakes_bejoy @chaman.chakko @yannickben @masharhamsa @shajie__naduvil @sonymusic_south," wrote the actor.
Scriptwriter Jiinu Abraham, who worked with Prithviraj in Kaapa, Adam Joan, and Kaduva, is producing the film under the banner of Jiinu Abraham Innovation. The team has informed that the film's first shooting schedule will kick off in London on August 6.
Composer Jakes Bejoy, who scored numerous Prithviraj films such as Ranam and Ayyappanum Koshiyum, is reuniting with the actor again. Another frequent collaborator of Prithviraj, Jomon T John, is the director of photography.
In addition to Khalifa, Prithvraj has Dharma Productions' Sarzameen — a direct-to-OTT release co-starring Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan — hitting JioHotstar on July 25.
Prithviraj also has Rorschach director Nissam Basheer's Nobody in his upcoming lineup. The film has Parvathy Thiruvothu as the female lead. It is backed by Supriya Menon under the banner of Prithviraj Productions in association with Mukesh Mehta and CV Sarathi of E4 Experiments.
The actor, who is coming off the success of his third directorial L2: Empuraan, is also looking forward to the release of Vilayath Buddha, directed by Jayan Nambiar, a longtime associate of the late Sachy, who had directed Prithviraj in Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Sachy was first supposed to direct it, but due to this untimely demise, Nambiar took over.
