Guwahati (Assam), July 16: The political heat in Assam rised as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a fiery attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a rally in Guwahati, calling him “the most corrupt Chief Minister in India.”
Accusing Sarma of treating himself like a king and selling Assam’s resources to corporate giants, Gandhi claimed the CM’s bold speeches are masking deep fear, warning that Congress’s “brave lion” will eventually send him to jail.
Sharing his remarks both on stage and via social media, Gandhi doubled down by saying that “neither Modi nor Shah” would be able to save Sarma.
In a sharp and sarcastic counter to his claims, the Assam Chief Minister reminded Gandhi of his own legal troubles, pointing out that the Congress leader is currently out on bail in several cases. What began as a campaign speech quickly escalated into a full-blown war of words.
Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet, "Assam's Chief Minister is the most corrupt Chief Minister in India - and, in just a short time, Congress's brave lion will put him behind bars. The fear is clearly visible in his eyes - because now neither Modi nor Shah can save him!"
He also shared a clip from the rally organised in Assam in which he said, "aapke chief minister apne aap ko chief minister nahi samajhte hai Assam ke raja samajhte hai... Aur Assam ka raja 24 ghante kabhi Adani ko kabhi Ambani ko aapka dhan aur aapki zameen dene me kage hue hai... Magar aap unki awaz agar achhi tarah sunoge, TV me agar aap unko achhi tarah dekho ge, toh aapko pata lagega ki aawaz k peeche darr hai. Badi badi baatein karte hai, chillate hai.. magar aaj aap jaake television pe unka chehra dekhna, unki aawaz sunna aur aapko dikhega ki unki aawaz me aur unki dil ki gahraai me darr hai. Kyuki woh jaante hai ek na ek din Congress ke jo Babbar Sher hai unhe ek din pakad ke jail ke andar daal denge. Woh jaante hai ki unhone jo bhrashtrachar kiya hai unke pariwar ne jo bhrashtachar kiya hai, kabhi na kabhi uska hisaab unhe Assam ki janta ko dena hoga."
He also said, "Mai bina soche samjhe nahi bolta hu, aur aamtor se mai jo bolta hu woh hota hai. Aur mai bolta hu yeh jo media wale hai kuch hi samay me aapke chief minister ko jail jaate hue dikhayenge. Aur isse na unko Modi bacha payega, na Amit Shah bacha payega aur dekhna woh aapko jail k andar aapko dikhenge."
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma replied and said, "Write it down, Himanta Biswa Sarma will definitely be sent to jail’ — this is the exact sentence that the Leader of Opposition, Shri Rahul Gandhi, said in his closed meeting with the Congress’s political affairs committee in Assam. He came to Assam just to say this, but our dear leader conveniently forgot that he himself is out on bail in several criminal cases across the country. My best wishes to you.
