Karnal, Sonepat to get national honours in Swachh Survekshan

Haryana has secured a proud moment on the national stage with Karnal and Sonepat being selected for awards under the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25. The honours will be presented at a ceremony in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, tomorrow.

Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Minister Vipul Goel shared the development on Tuesday, saying, “Karnal has made it to the list of the top 15 cleanest cities in the country — a proud moment for the entire state.” He said Sonepat will receive the coveted Ministerial Award for its exceptional cleanliness initiatives.

The awards will be conferred by President Droupadi Murmu in the presence of Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Haryana will be represented at the event by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and ULB Minister Vipul Goel.

“These recognitions are a reflection of the state government’s sustained efforts and innovative approach to urban cleanliness,” Goel said. He said the accolades are also a testament to the commitment of the local bodies and citizens in taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Swachh Bharat’.

The awards have reinforced Haryana’s growing reputation for urban sanitation excellence and underline the success of community participation and infrastructure-driven cleanliness models in cities like Karnal and Sonepat.
