Bengaluru Power Cut On July 17: Multiple Areas In Urban, Rural Districts To Face Outages Today
Residents across several neighbourhoods in Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts are set to experience planned electricity outages on Thursday (July 17, 2025) as part of scheduled maintenance activities by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM).
According to BESCOM, the outages are essential for upgrading and replacing outdated infrastructure to ensure a more stable power supply in the future.
Bengaluru Rural Power Cut (12:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
Power supply will be interrupted in parts of Devanahalli and nearby areas due to the replacement of conductors on the 66 kV Doddaballapura–Devanahalli transmission line. This work is connected to the 220 kV Doddaballapura station.
The following locations will be affected, as per a report on Republic World:
- Devanahalli Town and residential layouts
- Gokare, Bhuvanahalli, Yartiganahalli, Chikkasanne, Avati, Bidalur
- Vishwanathapura, Bommawara, Yaliyur, Chimachanahalli, Kannamangala
- Sannaamanikere, Hiranandani, Koyira, Tailagere, Gobbaragunte, Koramangala
- Kundana DC office area, along with Kundana and Koyira Gram Panchayats, Aluru–Duddanahalli belt
A parallel maintenance effort is also scheduled at the 66/11 kV Yellar Bunde MUSS substation from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This includes an upgrade from older electromechanical protective relays to modern numerical relays on a 20 MVA transformer.
Cooke Town Power Shutdown (11:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
In the city, Cooke Town and surrounding areas will witness a day-long power outage as part of routine upkeep at the Pottery Road MUSS. The affected zones include, reported One India:
- Richards Town, Davis Road, Hutchins Road, Pottery Road, Wheelers Road, D’Costa Square
- Banaswadi Road and adjoining sub-roads
- CK Garden, Vivekananda Nagar, Jai Bharat Nagar
- Maruthi Seva Nagar, MEG Officers Colony, Jeevanahalli Main Road
- Nagenapalya, Sathya Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Old Bayappanahalli
Bengaluru Power Shutdown Precautions
As parts of the city brace for scheduled power outages due to maintenance work, authorities and experts urge residents to take precautionary steps to ensure safety and reduce inconvenience.
Ahead of the shutdown, households are advised to fully charge all essential electronic devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and power banks. For those relying on alternative power sources such as inverters or generators, it is crucial to ensure they are in working condition and adequately charged or fueled.
With water supply likely to be affected in homes dependent on electric pumps, residents are encouraged to store sufficient water in advance for drinking, cooking, and daily use.
