14-Year-Old Boy Dies By Suicide After Jumping From 16th Floor In Kerala's Kattaikonam

A 14-year-old boy died after jumping from the 16th floor of an apartment building in Kattaikonam on Wednesday. A Class 9 student at a private school in Kazhakkoottam, Pranav, reportedly went to a vacant flat owned by his grandparents—who currently reside in Canada—without informing his parents. The flat had remained unoccupied for months and Pranav would occasionally visit it to study in solitude.

According to police reports, Pranav returned from school, collected the keys from his home, and headed straight to the apartment. Around 5 p.m., he crossed the main gate and jumped from the 16th floor, as per a report on Manorama. Residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the impact but were unable to identify him immediately. He was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead due to severe fractures and internal injuries. His identity was later confirmed through his school uniform.

The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The exact reason behind the suspected suicide remains unclear, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of other contributing factors. Pranav’s father works at Infopark, and his mother is employed at a bank.

The police suspect that the boy's extreme decision was triggered by issues at his home. However, they also added that he remained happy in school and did not reveal about any issues, as per a report on Times of India.
