Bharat Ki Baat: BJP Faces Heat from Allies and Opposition Over Voter Verification Process | ABP NEWS

The Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists has sparked controversy in states like Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. In Bihar’s Darbhanga, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav shared a viral video questioning the presence of BJP district president Sapna Bharti at a voter verification center. The video, originally posted by local Congress leader Jamal Hasan, has ignited debates about political interference in the process. Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, the NDA’s key ally—Telugu Desam Party (TDP)—has officially raised concerns. TDP MPs met the Election Commission, demanding adequate time for the SIR process and opposing last-minute changes to the voter list. In a follow-up letter, MP Shri Krishna Dev Rayalu recommended that voters not be burdened with repeated verifications and insisted that SIR should not be used to determine citizenship. The TDP's stand has surprised the BJP, already facing opposition heat. Critics claim voters are being arbitrarily removed from the rolls, and fear that the process is being misused. Earlier, Upendra Kushwaha’s party also questioned the EC’s speed and transparency. As election season nears, the voter verification drive has become a flashpoint, drawing sharp reactions across the political spectrum.
