New Namo Bharat stations: Construction of these 3 stations in Meerut is complete, services may start at the end of July

New Namo Bharat stations: The 3 new Namo Bharat stations built between Meerut South and Modipuram will be ready for services by the end of this month. These new stations will be a big step towards the launch of the entire corridor of the 82 km long Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Rail (RRTS). These three stations are Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul and Modipuram. A National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) official said that initially the station being built in Jangpura in south-east Delhi will serve as a parking for Namo Bharat trains until the work of extending the line beyond Sarai Kale Khan begins.
Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro trains will run on the same infrastructure
The official said, “This is a temporary but necessary arrangement so that train services can be managed efficiently till the next phase of the project takes shape.” The Shatabdi Nagar station, which comes after Meerut South, is an elevated station which is 215 meters long and 17 meters high. It is ready for services and will provide services to Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro trains simultaneously. The official said, “We are focusing on ensuring services on the same infrastructure.”
Begumpul station will be one of the largest stations of the corridor
He said that the next station Begumpul is underground and is located between the market area in Meerut. It is one of the largest stations of this corridor with a length of 246 meters, a width of 24.5 meters and a depth of about 22 meters. The official said that the construction work of the last station at Modipuram located on the National Highway has been completed.
Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan station will work as a multi-modal transport center
The official said, “A footover bridge has also been built to ensure safe movement of pedestrians on the National Highway.” The work of the starting station at Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi is also almost complete. It will serve as a major multi-modal transport center connecting Sarai Kale Khan Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro Station, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Veer Haqiqat Rai ISBT and Ring Road located on the Pink Line of Delhi Metro.
