Youth Dies After Slipping Into Deep Pond At Waterfall In Jabalpur; Body Recovered After Overnight Search

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A youth died of drowning while bathing at Nidan Waterfall in Jabalpur on Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Jharia, a resident of Garha, who had gone to visit and bathe at the waterfall with his friends.

According to information, the youth was bathing at a height, his foot slipped and he fell straight into the deep pond below. There was no trace of the young man since the incident.

A search operation was conducted overnight by Katangi police and a team of local divers. Finally, the body of the young man was recovered from the pond on Thursday morning.

The police reached the spot and prepared the Panchnama of the dead body and sent it for post-mortem. The family members blamed the negligence of the administration and the forest department for the accident.

Katangi Police station in-charge said that “the youth was bathing at a height, where he slipped and fell down. Rescue operation was started immediately after the accident. The body of the youth was recovered in the morning. We constantly advise tourists to be careful, but some people are careless.”

At the same time, the family of the deceased said that “our son lost his life, but who is responsible for this? Accidents happen here every year, yet no arrangements were made. Neither security, nor warning. If any help was received in time, perhaps life could have been saved.”

This incident raised serious questions on the preparations of the forest department and the administration. There should be strong security arrangements at sensitive tourist places like Nidan Waterfall, so that such incidents do not recur in future.
