Bryan Mbeumo's move to Manchester United in jeopardy as Brentford face fresh twist

The English Premiere League transfer window continues to have a butterfly effect around teams.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Liverpool are eyeing Newcastle United's Alexander Isak for a potential record signing. The numbers floating around indicate a potential record-breaking £120 million bid for the Swedish man. The Premiere League champions have also inked out Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike as the back up option, should Isak leave the Magpies this summer. The twist here is that in case Isak stays with his current club, it will be Liverpool who will be going all out for Ekitike.

How about that for a butterfly effect, right?

The latest update on the transfer window includes Newcastle United once more with Manchester United being the other team in a situation that could get complicated. Newcastle's bid of €80 million for Ekitike was formally rejected by the German club who are expecting a bigger sum for their star forward. Subsequently, Newcastle United seem to have shifted their focus to Brentford's Yoane Wissa who has been one of the league's underrated strikers with his sizzling speed and finishing prowess.

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle are expected to offer a deal in the £30-40m range for Wissa. If this deal does go through, it could have ramifications on Manchester United's potential deal with Bryan Mbeumo. As things stand, the Red Devils had submitted a £65m bid for Mbeumo but the Brentford camp has reportedly asked for a figure closer to the £70m mark. Therefore, the deal has hit a roadblock that could get further complicated, should Newcastle also manage to land Wissa. This could be a body blow to Manchester United who have already endured a difficult time in the transfer window.

This year's Premiere League transfer window has arguably been the most dramatic one in recent times. There are a lot of permutations and combinations being thrown in the air at the moment with a consensus expected in the coming weeks.
