'We’ll Make That Call In...': Ryan Ten Doeschate's Massive Claim About Jasprit Bumrah's Inclusion Ahead Of IND vs ENG 4th Test, Reveals Team India's Backup Bowler's Injury
Team India's assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate has hinted at playing pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the must-win fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. Although the former Netherlands all-rounder said the final call will be made in Manchester, he said there is a leaning towards playing him.
Before the series, head coach Gautam Gambhir had revealed that the 31-year-old will play only in three Tests. Having already played two Tests, it remains to be seen whether Bumrah will play in Manchester or in the fifth game at The Oval. Despite playing only two Tests, the star bowler is the second-highest wicket-taker in the series with 12 scalps in four innings at 21.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday at Beckenham, he stated:
"We’ll make that call in Manchester. We know we’ve got him for one of the last two Tests. I think it’s pretty obvious the series is on the line now in Manchester, so there will be a leaning towards playing him."
"It's just a cut" - Ryan Ten Doeschate on Arshdeep Singh's injury
Ten Doeschate also confirmed that seamer Arshdeep Singh picked up an injury while fielding and that needs to be under medical supervision. He said:
"He took a ball, while he was bowling there, the side of the ball; he tried to stop the ball. It's just a cut, so we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team is taking him to see a doctor and if he needs stitches, that is going to be important to our planning for the next few days."
