Meanwhile, in view of the possibility of heavy rain in Rewa and Mauganj districts, schools have been declared closed.
72% more rain
Monsoon arrived in Madhya Pradesh on June 16 and since then, 72% more rain than the average has been recorded. Niwari district is on top in terms of rainfall with a figure of 103%, where 31.46 inches of water has rained more than normal. According to the Meteorological Department, a monsoon trough is passing through the northern part of the state and along with this, an active low pressure area from Jharkhand and Bihar is intensifying the rain. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in many districts in the next 24 hours.

The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert in many districts today. Especially in eastern Madhya Pradesh, districts like Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, and Anuppur have orange alerts, where up to 8 inches of rain can occur. At the same time, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, and Chhatarpur have yellow alerts with two and a half to four and a half inches of rain. Western cities like Bhopal and Indore will have thunderstorms with light to moderate rain.
Forecast for the coming days
The weather department forecast says that tomorrow i.e. on Saturday, there will be a glimpse of the sun among the clouds, while there may be some rain on Sunday morning. On Monday, it will be mostly cloudy, there is a possibility of rain in the afternoon, and continuous spells of rain may continue from Tuesday to Wednesday. Meteorologists say that this phase of monsoon will continue for the next four days. Especially on July 19-20, the intensity of rain may increase further. Heavy rain is expected in areas like Jabalpur, Sagar, and Shahdol in eastern Madhya Pradesh, while the intensity of rain may decrease slightly in the western parts.
Schools closed in Rewa and Mauganj
In view of the possibility of heavy rain, the District Education Officer has declared a holiday for all schools in Rewa and Mauganj districts today on Friday. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of the students, as roads and areas may be affected due to monsoon.
