Pune: The Pune-Nashik semi-high speed rail project is getting delayed. At the same time, there are signs of movement for the Pune-Nashik Industrial Expressway. The proposal for this expressway connecting the three districts of Pune, Ahilyanagar and Nashik will soon be sent for government approval. This will reduce the five-hour journey between Pune and Nashik to three hours.
The government had given approval last year
The government had approved the final design of this highway in February last year. This highway will be connected to the Surat-Chennai highway. Therefore, it will benefit motorists from other states. The detailed project report (DPR) as well as the feasibility study report of this highway have been prepared and this proposal will be submitted to the government for final approval by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) in the next few days.
The government had already directed to prepare a detailed report for the Pune-Nashik Industrial Expressway. According to this, the cost of this new 133 km long expressway is expected to be Rs 28,429 crore and further work on the expressway will start after getting approval in the cabinet meeting.
Work can be completed in three years
Since the length of Pune-Nashik Industrial Expressway is 133 km, the work on this highway can be completed in three years. For this, 1545 hectares of land will have to be acquired. This expressway has been proposed through Khed, Shirur, Ambegaon and Junnar talukas of Pune district and Sangamner taluka of Ahilyanagar district. Ahilyanagar and Nashik are important cities of Maharashtra. Economic business will get a boost in these cities. The Pune-Nashik semi-high speed railway route currently has many obstacles and the proposal is pending for final approval. However, if the industrial highway is promoted, the distance between Pune and Nashik is likely to be reduced from five hours to three hours.
What will the Industrial Expressway be like?
12 big flyovers will be built on the Pune-Nashik Industrial Expressway. These bridges will be over rivers and streams. There will be interchanges at nine places in Chimbli, Chakan, Pabal in Pune district and Ahilyanagar and Rajuri, Khandarmal, Sakur, Machi, Kasare in Nashik. This interchange will be used while entering or exiting the expressway. Road Development Corporation officials said that Shirdi Marg will also be connected to the expressway.
Industrial Expressway planned from railway?
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar held a meeting regarding this expressway in June last year. He has ordered to verify whether the Pune-Nashik Industrial Expressway can be planned from the land to be acquired for the proposed Pune-Nashik High Speed Railway project. Accordingly, the process is currently in progress and the final report is awaited in this regard.
