Amrit Bharat Express Train: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (July 18) launched development projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore in Bihar’s East Champaran district. During this, PM Modi flagged off four new Amrit Bharat Express trains from Rajendra Nagar (Patna) to New Delhi, Bapudham Motihari to Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal), Darbhanga to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) and Malda Town to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) via Bhagalpur.
With the inauguration of four more trains from Bihar by Prime Minister Modi, the number of Amrit Bharat trains has now increased to seven. Along with Uttar Pradesh, Bihar has become the state with the highest number of these fully non-AC trains resembling the interiors of Vande Bharat trains.
Before the launch of Friday’s four new trains, only three Amrit Bharat trains were operational. These include Darbhanga-Delhi, Malda-Bengaluru and Mumbai-Saharsa. These four new services are between Patna and Delhi, Bapudham Motihari and Delhi, Darbhanga and Lucknow and Malda Town and Lucknow via Bhagalpur.
When will the service start?
News agency PTI quoted Northern Railway as saying that the new lawn-AC Amrit Bharat Express between Patna and New Delhi will provide regular service for passengers from July 31. Northern Railway (NR) Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay said on Friday, “Train number 22361 Rajendra Nagar Terminal – New Delhi Daily Amrit Bharat Express will start regular service from Rajendra Nagar Terminal from 31.07.2025. It will depart from Rajendra Nagar Terminal daily at 19:45 and reach New Delhi the next day at 13:10.”
He said that on the return journey, the train (which has train number 22362 New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Terminal) will start its regular service from New Delhi on August 1 at 7:10 pm and will reach Rajendra Nagar Terminal at 11:45 am the next day. “The train will run daily from both the stations in up and down direction as per its scheduled time,” officials said.
After starting its journey from Rajendra Nagar, the train stops at eight stations like Patna, Danapur, Ara, Buxar, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Dubedarganj, Govindpuri and Ghaziabad before reaching New Delhi. “The stoppages of the train will remain the same during the return journey,” officials said.
According to Northern Railway, a special Amrit Bharat Express will start its first journey from Rajendra Nagar Terminal at 11:45 am on Friday. It will reach Delhi at 4 pm the next day and stop at its scheduled stoppage. Upadhyay said, “Another special inaugural train has also been planned to run from New Delhi to Rajendra Nagar at 6 pm on July 19, 2025. The train will reach its final station at 11:45 pm the next day.”
Preparation to run 10 new trains
Sources said on Friday that Indian Railways is planning to run 100 new Amrit Bharat Express trains across India. Amrit Bharat train, made of completely indigenous technology under Make in India, is very high-tech and comfortable. This train is a combination of speed, security and convenience. Amrit Bharat Express can run at a speed of 130 km / h. This will complete long journeys in less time. Amrit Bharat train has been designed keeping in mind the middle class and economically weaker sections, so that they can get an affordable, safe and smart travel experience.
