Instagram rolls out DM translation & scheduling tools to more business users

Instagram has expanded access to its direct message (DM) translation and scheduling features, making the tools available to a wider set of business users on the platform.
While both features have been in development and gradually rolled out over recent months, the platform is now officially promoting them as part of its business engagement toolkit.
The DM translation feature, which Instagram began testing earlier this year, allows users to translate incoming messages into 99 different languages. To use the tool, users can press and hold on a message, then select the “Translate” option. The translated text appears below the original message within the chat thread. Users can also set a preferred language for automatic translations of future DMs.
Instagram has also expanded access to DM scheduling. This feature enables users to compose a message and schedule it for delivery at a later time. To schedule a message, users type their content, hold down the “Send” button, and then select the desired date and time for the message to be sent.
Instagram first began testing scheduled DMs in December 2024. Both tools are being positioned as resources to support communication between businesses and their audiences, including in cross-border or time zone-sensitive scenarios.
The updates are now available to more business users globally.
