World Sikh Chamber of Commerce meets Akal Takht Jathedar
A delegation of the World Sikh Chamber of Commerce (WSCC) met with Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj, Officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht and Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, at the Akal Takht Secretariat here on Thursday.
During the meeting, they laid stress on the Panthic unity and work for the welfare of the community and its future. The delegation members also pledged their full support for making the 350th martyrdom anniversary commemorations of Guru Tegh Bahadur memorable.
WSCC president Parmeet Singh described the meeting as historic while calling it a step forward in empowering Sikh community and fostering progressive Panthic unity. He also assured continued support for future joint initiatives.
During the meeting, the officiating jathedar personally adorn the members with ‘Sarabloh Karra’ (iron bracelet) when he observed that some members of the delegation were not wearing it. He encouraged them to take Amrit (getting baptized) and adopt the Five Kakaars, thus aligning themselves fully with Sikh tenets.
Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj stressed that apart from being economically strong, it was equally important for the Sikh community to serve the needy in accordance with the Guru’s teachings.
The delegation, consisted of over 30 members of the WSCC from 10 different states, honoured the Jathedar with a siropa (robe of honour) and Sri Sahib (sword). Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Bhai Tek Singh was also honoured with a siropa on the occasion.
