Mandi ranks 9th in Swachh Survekshan
Mandi town has secured 9th position among urban local bodies in Himachal Pradesh in the Swachh Survekshan 2024, the results of which were declared yesterday.
The achievement is being hailed as the outcome of the collective dedication and hard work of Mandi’s citizens, sanitation workers (safai mitras), staff of the Municipal Corporation and the local administration.
Mandi Municipal Corporation Mayor Virender Bhatt extended congratulations to all those who contributed to this accomplishment.
While the ranking reflects a steady progress, authorities have acknowledged that still there are gaps in key areas such as “segregation at source” and “door-to-door waste collection”. The Mayor noted that addressing these shortcomings will be crucial for improving the city’s performance in future.
With an eye on the Swachh Survekshan 2025, the Mayor has appealed to all Mandi residents to actively participate in improving cleanliness standards by following certain key practices. The practices include not throwing waste in the open,
segregating waste at the household level—separating dry and wet waste before handing it over to the sanitation workers, keeping plastic and recyclable materials separate and follow all cleanliness and hygiene norms.
The MC has reiterated its commitment to creating a cleaner, greener and beautiful Mandi. Residents are encouraged to continue their cooperation and civic responsibility to help the city climb higher in the national cleanliness rankings next year.
“This is not just a rank—it’s a reflection of our collective discipline, responsibility and care for our environment,” said the Mayor.
