Film on girl with autism disorder screened for spl kids

A special screening of a film based on a girl with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), was held for specially-abled kids and their parents in Jalandhar on Friday to generate awareness on autism and spread the message of positivity among members of the community here.

The film ‘Tanvi The Great’, directed by renowned actor, director and producer Anupam Kher, was specially screened for families at the PVR Curo Mall in Jalandhar. The film is based on the story of Tanvi, a special girl who lives with ASD, and overcomes challenges to establish her own identity.

The event was a social initiative led by Dr Jaswinder Singh, president of World Bio Cares Health Organisation (WBCHO). Special children and their families were invited to watch the film free of cost, aiming to deliver a powerful message of inspiration, empathy and acceptance to society.

Dr Jaswinder Singh, who is also the founder of Ebio Cares, made the thoughtful contribution towards spreading awareness about special children in society.

Speaking to The Tribune, Dr Jaswinder said, “Thousands of children suffering from autism spectrum and speech disorders, ADHD etc have been treated by our organisation. The prime aim of the event held today was to introduce parents of specially-abled children to the infinite possibilities their children can explore and the great heights they are capable of reaching if their condition is viewed anew from a different perspective. The film is also about such a girl who achieves great feats. Our prime purpose is to empower such parents and mainstream the children. The screening was another step in this direction.”

As many as 20 specially-abled children, along with their families and various other dignitaries, attended the event. Free tickets and snacks were distributed to the children who immensely enjoyed the show.

In all, over a 100 people attended the screening. Shweta Dhir, social worker and wife of Jalandhar Mayor Vaneet Dhir, was also present at the screening as the chief guest.

After watching the film, Dhir said, “Initiatives like this are very important for creating social awareness. A film like ‘Tanvi The Great’ inspires not just children, but adults as well.”

The screening was attended by media representatives, doctors, social workers and several distinguished guests. The joy and pride on the faces of the children and their parents reflected the true success of the event. The entire programme was beautifully managed and left a deep impact on everyone present.
