Half-burnt body found at haddarodi
The Mahilpur police discovered a half-burnt body of an unidentified man at the Mananhana haddarodi (carcass dumping site) late last night.
According to reports, a man had arrived at the site to dispose of a dead animal. However, as he approached, he noticed flames and saw the head of a person visible at the edge of the fire. Suspecting something unusual, he recorded a video on his phone and immediately alerted the Kot Fatuhi police post.
ASI Sukhwinder Singh and his team quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. They discovered the body of a man, believed to be around 45-year old, with more than 60 per cent of his body severely burned. The remains were taken to the mortuary at the Garhshankar Civil Hospital, where they will be kept for 72 hours for identification. Nearby police stations were also notified.
Upon further investigation, the authorities found that the fire had been fuelled by large plastic bags rather than wood. This suggests the victim may have been transported to the remote site in a vehicle, set on fire to conceal the identity, and left there. The police are now reviewing nearby CCTV footage for leads. As of the latest update, the identity of the deceased remains unknown.
