MC appoints ward nodal officers for complaint redressal
In a step aimed at ensuring better civic amenities and prompt resolution of public grievances, the Municipal Corporation, Hoshiarpur, has appointed ward nodal officers across all city wards. Their primary responsibility will be to address residents’ complaints on a priority basis.
Municipal Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattoo said the initiative has been implemented under the guidelines of the Local Government Department, Punjab, to streamline complaint resolution and enhance public convenience.
As part of the new structure, the Joint Commissioner has been designated as the In-charge Officer, the Executive Engineer as the Ward Controlling Officer and Subedar Gurmel Singh as the Ward Coordinator. Additionally, nodal officers have been deployed for each ward, who will act as overall in-charges for their allotted areas.
These officers will be responsible for resolving on-the-spot complaints related to sewerage, cleanliness, street lighting, drinking water, roads and other civic services.
For ease of communication, the Municipal Corporation has issued a helpline number (01882-220322) and a WhatsApp complaint number (94634-97791). Residents can lodge complaints during office hours through these channels.
Moreover, Subedar Gurmel Singh, the Ward Coordinator, will be available at the Municipal Corporation office from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm on all working days to personally address public grievances.
Residents are encouraged to utilise the helpline numbers or visit the office during the given time slots to get their issues resolved efficiently.
