Maruti Suzuki To Launch A New SUV On This Date
Maruti Suzuki will launch its new SUV Escudo on the 3rd of September and it will be its new 5-seater SUV slotted above the Brezza and below the Grand Vitara. The Escudo is a name used in global markets by Suzuki and is now making its debut in India. This new SUV would be sold via the Arena dealerships unlike the Grand Vitara and would rival the Creta and others including the Kia Seltos and more.
This new SUV would actually be longer than the Grand Vitara but it will come with a 5-seater configuration. This will be Maruti's second 4m plus SUV which will be a more value based alternative from the Grand Vitara. The Escudo will come with a standard 1.5l NA petrol with the same 6-speed TC automatic and a manual gearbox. We do not think that the Escudo will come with a strong hybrid since that would mean the pricing would be more premium and closer to the Grand Vitara Hybrid. Visually, the Escudo will have styling cues similar to the Vitara but will have differences as well with a longer side profile, different alloys and a new grille.

The interior too will have more comfort focussed features while the dashboard will more or less have the same design as the Grand Vitara. The Escudo will be a part of the new product offensive that Maruti Suzuki will bring and it will be having more SUVs due to the increased demand for them. The Grand Vitara will remain the more premium SUV offering in this space with its strong hybrid powertrain while the Escudo will be more of a spacious value for money SUV which would be priced lower.
