Rain Continues Across Uttar Pradesh, Light Showers Expected in 28 Districts Today
Uttar Pradesh continues to witness widespread rainfall, bringing pleasant weather across the state. On Saturday, July 19, showers are expected to persist in several regions, although no official warning has been issued by the authorities.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall activity is likely to slow down today. Light showers may occur at isolated locations in 28 districts of western UP, including Meerut and Noida. However, no major alert or advisory has been released for the day.
Today's Weather Forecast
Some parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh may also receive light rain, but there is no forecast for thunderstorms or lightning. Additionally, strong winds are not expected anywhere in the state today.
Districts likely to witness rainfall at one or two locations include Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Lalitpur, Chitrakoot, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra.
Weather To Change From Sunday
Starting July 20, the monsoon is expected to intensify across the state. Several districts in western UP may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rain. In some areas, alerts for very heavy rainfall have also been issued.
Due to the ongoing rainfall, temperatures have dipped across the state. Over the next 48 hours, maximum temperatures are likely to drop by 2–4 degress Celsius, while minimum temperatures may fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. No significant changes in temperature are expected after that.
Rising Water Levels In Rivers
The continuous rainfall has led to a rise in water levels of rivers and streams across UP, sparking fears of flooding in low-lying areas. In Varanasi, both the Ganga and Yamuna rivers have swelled, submerging several ghats. Even the popular Namo Ghat has been inundated, with water reaching knee-deep levels.
