VIDEO: Man Swept Away In Floodwater Near Garib Nawaz Dargah In Ajmer; Rescued (Dramatic Visuals)

Ajmer: Heavy rains lashed Rajasthan's Ajmer, throwing normal life out of gear. Waterlogging was reported in several areas, including the Dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz. Amid heavy showers, a video of a man being swept in floodwater in Ajmer also surfaced online. The incident took place near the Dargah.

Notably, due to incessant rains, narrow lanes around the holy shrine got flooded and turned into streams. In the viral video, a man wearing a yellow t-shirt could be seen swept away by the strong water current in one of the lanes near the Dargah.

People standing nearby immediately rushed to rescue the man. The force of the water was so strong that they could not pull the man out of the floodwater. However, a staff member of a nearby hotel showed courage and rescued the man. He grabbed the man by his hand and pulled him out.

Earlier in the day, visuals of the overflowing Ana Sagar lake in Ajmer surfaced online amid heavy rains. The locals used sandbags in an attempt to stop the flow of water.

Municipal Corporation Chief Engineer Vinod Manohar stated that the cause of waterlogging is due to lake water entering through escape channels, which have been opened by nearly 30 inches.

"The waterlogging is due to the water from the escape channels (of the lake) ... The channel gates have been opened by nearly 30 inches, and if needed, we will adjust them accordingly. There has been 8-9 inches of rainfall since yesterday," Manohar told ANI.

Notably, Rajasthan has been witnessing heavy rains over the past few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), very heavy rainfall is expected over Rajasthan on Saturday.
