Shocking Incident in Nimapara: Miscreants Set Fire to Girl Student

Puri: In a horrific incident, three miscreants allegedly attempted to burn a Plus-2 female student by setting her on fire in Bayabar village under Nimapara bkock in Puri district,according to reports.

The student was walking home with a friend when three youths intercepted her, poured petrol on her, and set her ablaze.

The fire caused burns to her hands, legs, and parts of her body. The perpetrators fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Due to the prompt response of local residents, the fire was extinguished, and the critically injured student was rushed to a hospital in Bhubaneswar via ambulance. Her condition is reported to be critical, as per reports.

Upon receiving news of the incident, the police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding culprits, with police conducting raids in various locations. The motive behind the attack and the identities of the accused remain unclear at this stage.

This incident has drawn parallels to a similar case at FM College in Balasore district, where a female student suffered 90% burns after being set on fire. The Nimapara incident has further heightened fear and panic in the region.

Local residents have strongly condemned the incident raising questions on women’s safety, particularly for female students.
