Astronomer CEO ‘placed on leave’ after ‘kiss cam’ video at Coldplay concert goes viral
Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has been placed on leave and an internal investigation is underway after a viral video from a Coldplay concert captured him on a ‘kiss cam’ embracing Kristin Cabot, the company’s chief of Human Resources (HR).
“The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly,” Astronomer released a statement on LinkedIn.
It emphasised the company’s commitment to its values and leadership standards, adding, “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.”
Astronomer also clarified that no other employees were involved in the incident. “Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event and no other employees were in the video. Andy Byron has not put out any statement, reports saying otherwise are all incorrect.”
The company’s co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has stepped in as interim CEO.
The decision follows the viral clip, where both appeared startled when they realised they were being filmed on the big screen and tried to hide their faces – a reaction that only fuelled online speculation.
